Last blog post!!!!
What did you learn about yourself as a reader from creating and keeeping up with blog posts?
I learned that I love to summarize my blogs and sometimes don't always keep track of the posts. I do read my books but give less detail in my summary or blogs.
In what ways did you benefit from the experience?
How I benefited from this experience is it gave me responsibility. Because, every Friday I had to make sure I posted my blog. The most important way I benefited was I got to express myself. And explore reading in so many ways. This blog kind of helped me grow as a reader. It help me see how much I understood the book. That is how I benefited from this experience.
In what ways can writing online be liberating? Limiting?
How it was liberating was it can be a way to express yourself. Also since so many people online have read the book I can look at there summaries and ideas and compare it to mine. They might have mistakes and I try to see if I have those mistakes. They sometimes also have incomplete ideas. And some of the comments on their blogs help me improve my ideas. It was also liberating because the internet helped me think about what I should write. That is how it is liberating.
How it was limiting was all the distractions. If I was just writing a blog on paper in class I could just sit down and write without distractions. Also it was limiting because sometimes internet connections would be down. And I am a slow typer But, I am a fast writer. That is how it was limiting.
Do you think that people are more real online or do we create online
personalities that project the best of ourselves? Or something else?
I think both. People can be more real online. Like they might be a really passionate writer and only show it online. Also some people create online personalities that project the best in themselves. Or people just show how hey really are.
So writing a blog this year was a lot of fun. Thank you for the experience!

the virgin suicides

Blog post: The
virgin suicides
In the book the virgin suicides by Sophia Coppola, is an
intense literature of five sisters. These five Lisbon sisters attempt to
suicide one by one. While the neighborhood boys are watching them from afar. The
first one to attempt suicide was the youngest Lisbon. She had killed herself on her
small kitty pool. Then came Cecilia, and the rest of the Lisbon sisters.
While I read the beginning of this book, I kept thinking
why the girls wanted to kill themselves. I though t that it was because of the
mother, but not the father. It was said in the story that the father couldn’t
understand why the mother was so strict. She wouldn’t hit them or anything, but
she didn’t let them hang around with the kids around them. It was almost like
they had to be safe wit her.
This story was kind of confusing me but, I think
when I finish it all the pieces might come together. I want to know why the
girls wanted out from their lives. I know that there is a twist somewhere in
the story. I just have to find it!

Blogpost:
Three cups of tea
In Three Cups of Tea, by Greg Mortenson, is about a guy named Greg who goes to Korphe, Pakistan and volunteers to build a school for the little kids. After seeing kids write with dirt on little chalkboards and sit on the floor and learn, he felt bad and wanted to build a school for the kids.
He got the money from a friend of his who was dying and promised him to show a picture of the school after it was built before he died. It took him a lot of going back and forth from America to Pakistan because his wife was pregnant and he had to help her. After building the school everyone in Korphe thanked him for his courageous work and he would never be forgotten in Korphe.
This book inspired me to help kids once I grow up because it made me feel bad that I’m a lucky girl to be going to school while others aren’t able to go to school because they have to help their family. I hope to do something like this one day when I grow up.

predestined fate!!

Blog post: Fatalism
Do we choose our fate or does fate choose us?
I have researched upon this topic and have found that many philosophers believe fate has already made up our future. We are not the controllers of our lives but fate is. I think that this mainly just depends on the kind of person you are. If you always do the right things, then how is fate choosing for you? Also, if your do bad things all the time then your choosing that for yourself, not fate, nor destiny or any other predestined authority. People do believe that if you do right things the outcomes always good. That’s uncertain because I have been in such positions before. Like when I did something good the outcome comes out bad, but it’s not always like this.so I don’t think fate chooses anything for us because we always think we are doing the right thing when actually we really could be doing the total opposite. This is what happens,, like sometimes we’ll try to do someone a favor but it was actually not a favor all along and it was the wrong thing to do. So you see fate does not choose for you but instead I think that people just get confused with what is actually right and wrong!

child hunger!!!!!!!!!!!

Blog post:
Childhood hunger
Childhood
hunger is a serious issue! No child should be hungry. This issue deals with
millions of children who cannot manage to get food. Children without food will
lack nutrition. Without food your body cannot function correctly. So stop
ignoring the fact that children are dying due to the cause of food shortages. People
can contribute to the hungry; a dollar will give them a lot. We will make a
difference in these children’s lives.
These
kids are starving and not knowing when their next meal will come. About 15 million
children die every year because of hunger. Without food children will become underweight,
and they’ll get sick more often. Children who do not get as much of protein and
nutrition, they won’t be able to function their bodies. It’s very important
that children get energy and food every day, but kids who are hungry will
struggle. Lacking food and nutrition can lead to more health issues.
In school
when children don’t have food they won’t be able to concentrate. Children who
eat will do much better than a child who is hungry. Hunger will affect kids
negatively. Especially skipping the most important meal of the day breakfast will
bring them down even more. Eating healthy can make a big difference in a child’s
work during school. Hunger will strike these children but there are still ways
we can prevent that.
Contribute
to the hungry, the children need you. Even small amounts of money make a lot of
difference for these children. They need food and we need to stop child hunger!
It kills not to get the right source of nutrition!

Blogpost: “aces up”
The
book “Aces up” by Lauren H., is a story about Shannon card who is only seventeen
years old. She is a senior in high school but notices that her dad is unable to
pay for her college tuitions. So Shannon card gets a fake ID then works at a
poker place as a waiter. She has kept it a secret from her family.
I
think that Shannon card shouldn’t have gotten a job this way. How long was she
willing to keep this up? I know that her father has lost his job and his car
but she should’ve at least spoken with her family. I feel like Robyn, Shannon’s
sister will suspect her because Robyn saw her uniform. I don’t think that Shannon thought
about how much trouble this can cause her!
I
am hoping to quickly finish the book and find out more about Shannon and her
family. I want to see how she keeps her secret and pay for her college tution!

Blogpost:
In the book or movie hunger games, there was a character named katnis. She and pita from the same district had experienced the hunger games. They are from district twelve and had been the two tributes that participated in this game. It was a tragic game and they knew there was only one winner. But this some rules were broken and changed. This happens at different times in the years it is called the day of the reaping.
The hunger games, has shown a number of people dying and living in a nightmare. They have suffered so much trying to eat, get warm in the fire, and save themselves, but many of them die off. I wonder who and why they have to make all the districts go to this game. I want to read more of the hunger games series they are very interesting and unpredictable.

Romeo and Juliet: themes
In this book I found many different themes, the one I wanted to write about was forgiveness and pride. I want to write about these themes because these were sort of hidden but it was definitely there.
Where I found forgiveness was in tybalt’s eyes when he had murdered mercutio. I saw that he knew he won, but when he looked at his bloody sword, he was sorry. He didn’t want mercutio to die but also he didn’t want to seem like a loser and try to help him. This is the place where pride also hurt their family.
A place where pride took place was when the Capulet’s had a party, and tybalt says tis he that villain Romeo. It looked like Capulet was trying to hide his anger so he wouldn’t look bad in front of his men. While that hurt tybalt’s feelings.
These two themes have taken part in this play but I found it to be rather hidden than present. I thought it was interesting that Shakespeare does this. Also I wanted to find out who else felt the same way.

Blogpost: Out of my mind by Sharon m. draper
In this book, the main character is melody. She is has a disability, this disability affects the way she talks a, walks and more. She is always in a wheel chair and needs special assistance. She is in fifth grade, and she is a very smart girl. The disability she has is called cerbal palsy. She cannot write or type with her fingers she uses just her thumbs to type. She has only this board that she points to; this is her way of communication. In school she is a outcast. Melody is a sweet young girl that just wants to learn. People usually make fun of her and the way she is. I think she is a very strong girl to be able to take all those things her classmates say and not care.
Later, melody is changed into a normal classroom with normal kids. In one of the classes she joined a math whiz contest and passed. People think it was unfair for her to be on their team. Her team was supposed to be going to Washington dc for the final contest, there she feels really bad. She gets ready and on time for the contest, when they reach the airport she finds out the entire team caught the early airplane and left her behind. This is when she feels like she isn’t wanted. After that she hadn’t gone to school for a day or two, but when she did the class had apologized and made her feel like she was part of the class again.

Romeo & juliet scene 3.1

Blog post: Romeo & Juliet scene 3.1
In this scene Romeo and Mercutio, come in contact with Tybalt and his crew. This scene was very sad and almost like everyday life. This is the death scene where Tybalt and Mercutio fight. At first it was a normal fencing fight which takes a turn into death. But Tybalt did not intend to hurt Mercutio at all. Tybalt felt the sorrow but still didn’t stop to help Mercutio. This was just supposed to be a normal fight, but took the death of two.
What really began the fight was the crowd. When Mercutio and Tybalt were verbally fighting, the crowd is what had raised their anger. It’s like they didn’t want to seem like a wimp in front of the crowd. Whenever there is a fight the energy that keeps the fighters going is the crowd. I feel like without the crowd energy it wouldn’t really have been a death fight at all. In this scene I felt sorry for Mercutio because he actually never deserved to die. They were just fencing

Blog: Romeo and Juliet
In act5, the book gets kind of interesting. I wonder how their marriage and relationship was, because they got married after one day of seeing each other. It was kind of like they never really got to meet eachother. My thoughts about reading and learning about Romeo &Juliet before was that it was boring. I also thought it was going to be cheesy romance story. But after I found out it was actually a sweet and cute story, which unfortunately ended quick.
My favorite part was act 5, it was the main action. You could tell who were really on Romeo and Juliet’s side. Is part was unbelievable; I couldn’t believe that Juliet could care more about a boy she met for one day at a party rather than her parents. Also when Romeo found out that Juliet was “dead”, I couldn’t believe he would kill himself for her too. I mean they only met each other in one day.

prologue
Romeo and Juliet prologue:
Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth to fatal loins of these two foes
Pair of star-crossed lovers take their life;
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Doth with their death bury their parents’ strife.
The fearful passage of their death-marked love,
And continuance of their parents rage,
Which but their children’s end, naught could remove,
Is now the two hours’ traffic of our stage;
The which if you with patient ears attend,
What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.
My worded translation:
Two households, equal in respect, in fair Verona, is where we filmed the movie, from old aged anger comes new rebellions.
Where citizens blood makes other citizens do bad.
From onward the deadly parts of a human being of these two enemies’s a pair of ill-fated couples suicide; whose mistakes pathetic overthrows when they were found dead it ended their parents fight.
The scary story of their suicidal love, and their parent’s anger, only their children’s death could stop it,
This story is now just 2 hoyrs long on film; which if u attend patiently, you should not miss , our hard work should go far to set it right.
