Blog post: Romeo & Juliet scene 3.1
In this scene Romeo and Mercutio, come in contact with Tybalt and his crew. This scene was very sad and almost like everyday life. This is the death scene where Tybalt and Mercutio fight. At first it was a normal fencing fight which takes a turn into death. But Tybalt did not intend to hurt Mercutio at all. Tybalt felt the sorrow but still didn’t stop to help Mercutio. This was just supposed to be a normal fight, but took the death of two.
What really began the fight was the crowd. When Mercutio and Tybalt were verbally fighting, the crowd is what had raised their anger. It’s like they didn’t want to seem like a wimp in front of the crowd. Whenever there is a fight the energy that keeps the fighters going is the crowd. I feel like without the crowd energy it wouldn’t really have been a death fight at all. In this scene I felt sorry for Mercutio because he actually never deserved to die. They were just fencing
