In this book, the main character is melody. She is has a disability, this disability affects the way she talks a, walks and more. She is always in a wheel chair and needs special assistance. She is in fifth grade, and she is a very smart girl. The disability she has is called cerbal palsy. She cannot write or type with her fingers she uses just her thumbs to type. She has only this board that she points to; this is her way of communication. In school she is a outcast. Melody is a sweet young girl that just wants to learn. People usually make fun of her and the way she is. I think she is a very strong girl to be able to take all those things her classmates say and not care.
Later, melody is changed into a normal classroom with normal kids. In one of the classes she joined a math whiz contest and passed. People think it was unfair for her to be on their team. Her team was supposed to be going to Washington dc for the final contest, there she feels really bad. She gets ready and on time for the contest, when they reach the airport she finds out the entire team caught the early airplane and left her behind. This is when she feels like she isn’t wanted. After that she hadn’t gone to school for a day or two, but when she did the class had apologized and made her feel like she was part of the class again.

  1. Do you think that the classmates apologized because they had to or they really felt sorry?
